Microsoft Teams: New Changes You Need to Know

#image_title

Microsoft teams can be a great communications tool for your business once you know how to use it. Microsoft is constantly adding new features and services to Microsoft Teams, which makes it challenging to determine what’s available and if it’s desirable for your organization. However, we’ve listed the new changes you need to know to maximize your features and experience.

Chat and collaboration

  • Delete Chats The ability to delete a chat thread is now available – This can be done by all users but only for conversations within the last 30 days. If you need to delete a conversation older than 30 days, don’t hesitate to contact the Office 365 Administrator.
  • Expanded Reactions – Expanded Reactions are now available in Microsoft Teams. The feature allows you to see and respond to reactions from other users in your team in addition to the existing Like button, which will be renamed a Love button.
  • Add people to a group with @mention – You can now add people to a group with an @mention. Type the @ symbol before their name or email address, and their name will appear in the search bar. If they’re already on the team, they’ll be added automatically. They’ll receive an invitation to join the conversation if they still need to.
  • Recommended people when creating a new message – This feature instructs people to add to your conversations based on the content of your messages and who you’ve already worked with. People are suggested based on their name, company, and job title. In addition, you can also request access to this list of recommended people from the Add People button in the lower left corner of the chat window.
  • Receive all group chat messages with resource-specific consent –  You can now receive group chat messages for a specific resource only if you consent to receive them. This new feature enables you to control what messages you receive and when.
  • Sign Language View and always-on captions in meetings – Microsoft Teams will now support sign language view and always-on captions when you’re participating in a meeting with others who are using screen readers or have hearing impairments. This way, you can understand everything going on at all times, no matter how many people are speaking or how many screens are playing audio.

Devices

The Microsoft Teams app is now available on all devices, including iOS and Android. This means you can use the app to collaborate with your team from any device that supports your chosen mobile operating system. The latest update to Microsoft Teams offers several new features, including managing devices from within the app. The new device management feature allows you to create groups of devices and set policies for them, such as whether they can be used at all by your team members or only during certain times of the day.

  • Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android—new touch and collaboration experiences
  • Walk up and use Microsoft Whiteboard
  • Bring Microsoft Whiteboard into an ad hoc meeting
  • Redesigned share menu and Microsoft Whiteboard support for resource accounts
  • Touch awareness and 4K display support
  • Chat bubbles during meetings
  • Hardware occupancy sensor integration

Certified devices

Microsoft Teams has made some significant updates recently that will make it easier for users to use the application without having any trouble or issues. The new updates include certified devices, meaning that all devices certified with Microsoft Teams will have guaranteed performance and reliability. This will ensure users have an optimal experience using Microsoft Teams on their devices.

  • Neat Bar Pro
  • Jabra Evolve Buds
  • EPOS EXPAND Vision 1

Platform

Microsoft Teams is a communications and collaboration platform that works seamlessly with Office 365 and other popular business applications. It’s designed to make teamwork more efficient so that you can get more done. With Microsoft Teams, you can easily share and collaborate on files, add new team members, set up video calls and meetings, and more.

  • Approvals as PDFs can be saved, printed, and transferred
  • Adobe Acrobat streamlines the PDF experience in Teams

Frontline workers

As a frontline worker, you can use Microsoft Teams to meet your team’s needs for instant messaging, video calls and screen sharing, file sharing, and even one-to-one discussions in private chat rooms. And now, with Teams, you can work from anywhere—from any device—with people who are essential to your work.

  • Frontline workers using shared devices can use Edge and Yammer apps on Android alongside Teams

To summarize, Microsoft Teams has gotten some much-needed updates, including a new dark theme, resizable canvas, chat improvements, and more. We are still determining where Microsoft will take Teams in the future, but based on these updates, we’re excited to see what the next 12 months hold for this growing collaboration platform.
